About this edition

A hybrid Winter School hosted in Bilbao with the GEM consortium, focused on the configurations, mechanisms and evolutionary dynamics of entrepreneurial ecosystems. Topics explored evolutionary and longitudinal dynamics, the specificities of non-western ecosystems (Global South, low-income countries), structure and value-chain mechanisms, ethics, inclusiveness and social dimensions, theoretical challenges, and novel methods. Previous editions: Utrecht, Casablanca, Paris, Stuttgart.
Thematic focus · 2025

Configurations, mechanisms and evolutionary dynamics of Entrepreneurial Ecosystems

The 5th edition convened scholars to advance academic conversations on the emerging research field of entrepreneurial ecosystems (Stam 2015; Wurth et al. 2019; Theodoraki 2024). Early-career scholars, including PhD candidates, were particularly invited to participate and present their work. A distinctive feature of this edition was the bridged tracks with the Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) annual meeting 2025, creating cross-pollination between academic research and large-scale cross-country data collection on entrepreneurship.
